Registration Info

A day camp with fun & creative activities for flute students: beginners, intermediate, advanced, and adults. Flute choir, group lessons, performances, a final concert, and more! 2.3 CEU credits available for educators.​​
Registration
All students preregistered/paid before May 15, 2025 will receive a Delta Flute Camp t-shirt.

Free in front of Zeigel Hall in the summer
Tuition
$80. Cash, check, Venmo, or CashApp (sorry, no credit cards)
Daily Schedule (subject to change)  
Flute camp: 
For students with at least 2 full years of instruction, or 1 year of experience with instructor recommendation
  • Drop off: 8:45am
  • Downbeat: 9:00am
  • Morning block: 9:00-11:30am
  • Lunch (Bring a sack lunch): 11:30-12:00
  • Afternoon block: 12-2:30pm
  • Pickup: 2:30pm Tuesday-Thursday; Friday's pickup will follow the the concert.
  • Friday: 5:15pm concert

Beginner camp:
  • 1:30-2:30: Music activities
  • 2:30-3:30: Flute instruction 
  • 3:30: pickup
  • Friday's pickup will follow the the concert.
  • Beginner camp includes use of an instrument for the week! 
 
Final Concert Attire
Delta Flute Camp t-shirt & choice of jeans, shorts, skirt, etc.
Student Expectations
Students are expected to be at all events/concerts from 8:45am-2:30pm and until 6pm on Friday unless other arrangements have been made. Students may not leave Zeigel Hall without an adult unless written permission has been given to Dr. C. All cell phones should be put away. 
Performance
All students are expected to perform at the Final Concert on Friday at 5:15pm.

About the Instructors

Dr. Shelley Collins is Professor of Flute and Music History at Delta State University. In 2020, she was awarded Delta State's Kossman Outstanding Teacher Award, the university's top faculty honor. She has taught flutists from age six to 83. She has directed the Rocky Mountain Flute Choir, Seattle Pacific Flute Ensemble, Delta State University Flute Ensemble, and Arizona Flute Society Flute Choir, as well as leading flute choir sessions for the National Flute Association, San Diego, and Mid-South Flute Society conventions. ​Mrs. Dawn Carlisle is the band director at Washington School in Greenville, MS. She has held a variety of musical positions including choir director for Leland United Methodist Church, member of the Bartlett Community Band and Flute Choir (soloist), member of the Manama Singers in Manama, Bahrain, and flute studio teacher in Bahrain, Indiana, and Memphis. Mrs. Carlisle received her B.M. in Flute Performance from the University of Mississippi and her M.M. in Flute Performance from Ball State University. She has performed with the Greenville Symphony and Delta Center Stage in Greenville, MS.

Directions to Zeigel Music Building

At the corner of Hwy 61 and Hwy 8, turn WEST onto West Sunflower/Hwy 8 (Walgreens on corner). 
  1. Drive west 1.2 miles.
  2. You will come to the traffic light at the intersection of Hwy 8 and 5th Ave South. Don't turn--keep going west. 
  3. Take the next LEFT (turn South) onto campus. You are now on the Quad.
  4. Zeigel Hall is the second building on the right. Parking is free in the summer.
