DSU Flute Day - Archives 

Important

  • Registration fee ($40, cash/check) includes lunch & a DSU t-shirt. 
  • Cash or checks only, please (no credit cards). Make checks out to “DSU Department of Music.” 
  • Preregistration allows us to order t-shirts and meals), but we won't turn anyone away who wants to play! Late registrants may not be able to receive a t-shirt, but we'll do our best.

Directions, Reminders, and Details:

Attending Flute Day? Here's what you need to know:
  • Have any flute friends who forgot to sign up? They may register on-site. I won't turn away anyone who wants to play flute! 
  • Registration is at 9:00 am in the Bologna Performing Arts Center (BPAC) lobby. Mu Phi Epsilon will provide coffee, juice, and light breakfast snacks. 
  • Rehearsal begins at 9:15 am. Bring your flute and any other flutes (piccolo, alto, bass) you might have. Don't forget to bring a pencil! Also, please bring a folding stand if you own one. 
  • Parking is free in the BPAC parking lot on Saturdays. 
  • Payment of $40 is due at registration unless it has already been mailed. We can accept checks or cash. (Sorry, no credit cards.) If possible, please have exact change. 
  • Lunch is pizza; vegetarian options will be available. 
  • Students are expected to be at all events/concerts from 9:00am-5:45pm unless other arrangements have been made. Parents and teachers are welcome to stay and observe or may enjoy Cleveland's charming downtown. The Faculty Recital will be at 2 pm. Additionally, all students will perform at the Final Concert at 5 pm. 
  • Final Concert Attire: Flute Day t-shirt & choice of jeans, skirt, etc.
  • Nugent Flutes will be on hand with step-up flutes to try (or buy!). Please remove jewelry before trying flutes so that we protect these beautiful new instruments from scratches. 
  • In case of emergency, the DSU Police number is 662-846-4155. 
  • DSU is a tobacco-free campus. ​ ​

Directions from Highway 61
  1. Turn WEST onto West Sunflower/Hwy 8 (Walgreens on corner). 
  2. Drive west 1.2 miles.
  3. You will come to the traffic light at the intersection of Hwy 8 and 5th Ave South. Don't turn--keep going west. 
  4. Take the next LEFT (turn South) onto campus. You are now on the Quad.
  5. The BPAC is the first building on the right, with a sculpture garden out front.
